| Banal | so lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring. |
| Cliche' | a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. |
| Derivative | imitative of the work of another person, and usually disapproved of for that reason. |
| Hackneyed | lacking significance through having been overused; unoriginal and trite. |
| Insipid | lacking flavor. |
| Lackluster | lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring. |
| Mundane | lacking interest or excitement; dull. |
| Platitude | a remark or statement, especially one with a moral content, that has been used to often to be interesting or thoughtful. |
| Prosaic | having the style or diction of prose; lacking poetic beauty. |
| Trite | overused and consequently of little import; lacking originality or freshness. |
| Vapid | offering nothing that is stimulating or challenging. |
