Poetry Techniques
| Term | Definition |

| rhythm | literary device which demonstrates the long and short patterns through stressed and unstressed syllables particularly in verse form. |
| Simile | when two things are compared using conceive words such as like or as, to link them |
| Mood/Tone | The general feeling / mood that is created by the poet through words |
| Imagery | The use of language to create images by describing how something looks, sounds, feels, smells, or tastes |
| Repetition | is used to reinforce the language, message or theme |
| Onomatopoeia | words that sound like the noise they describe |
| subject | the event/ situation or experience the poem is giving you |
| structure | the way the poem is organised in terms or stanzas. |
