Thunderstorm These storms have heavy rain with thunder and lightening
Tornado Strong wind that comes from clouds
Hurricane A large storm that starts over the ocean
Thermometer A weather tool used to measure temperature
Precipitation Water that falls from the sky as rain, snow, sleet or hail
Anemometer A weather tool used to measure the wind speed
Wind Vane A weather tool used to measure the direction of wind
Rain Gauge A weather tool used to measure the amount of rain that has fallen over a period of time.
Beaufort Scale A weather tool that measures the speed of wind based on a scale.

Severe Weather Hurricane, Thunderstorm and Tornado
Seasons Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring
Weather Pattern The way the weather repeats itself.
Temperature How hot or cold something is
Meteorologist A scientist who predicts the weather.
Wind Sock A weather instrument that measures the direction of the wind.
Fall The leaves are changing and the weather is cool. We pick apples and carve pumpkins. We celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving in the Fall.
Summer The weather is hot. We go to the beach and spend time outside. We celebrate the 4th of July.
Winter The weather is cold. The leaves have fallen off the trees. We celebrate Christmas and New Year's Day.
Spring The weather is warm and rainy. The flowers are beginning to grow again and animals are hatching. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Easter.
