Electromagnetic Spec

TermDefinition
Electromagnetic Waves Waves that have some electrical properties and some magnetic properties.
Electromagnetic Spectrum The range of electromagnetic waves placed in a certain order.
Gamma Rays The electromagnetic waves with the highest frequency.
Global Positioning System Tells you your exact location on Earth.
Neon Lights Lights commonly used in advertising.
Radio Waves Waves with the longest wavelength and lowest frequency.
Ultraviolet Waves Waves that help your body make vitamin D.
Photon A packet of light energy.
Sodium Vapor Light A light in which neon or argon is heated until it causes sodium to change from a solid to a gas.
Electromagnetic Radiation Energy that is transferred by electromagnetic waves.
Photoelectric Effect When you shine a light on certain substances causing electrons to flow.
Visible Light The part of the electromagnetic spectrum you can see.
Thermogram Identifies the warm and cool parts of an object by using infrared rays.
Incandescent Bulb A light bulb that glows when a filament inside it gets hot.
Fluorescent Bulb A light bulb that glows when current causes ultraviolet waves to strike a coating of powder.
