Describe Florence Nightingale’s contributions to the treatment of the wounded in the Crimean War. she found the hospital a mess and went there and cleaned it up. raised money to buy supplies to treat patients with that the dr.’s could not get form the military, hired staff to do linen and clean the hospital.

What are some factors that influence employers to hire or not to hire LPN/LVNs? Degrees, rate of pay, level of experience
How does critical thinking differ from problem-oriented thinking? thinking outside the box, looking at situation and seeing how you can improve on it.. outcome based.
Critical thinking is based on what scientific principles? Collecting, verifying, and Arranging data.
Even though the scientific principles align with the nursing process, what is the major difference between the scientist and the nurse? Scientist -a problem is identified and then data are collected. Nurse - collects data and then determines the nature of the problem.
What is necessary for the practical/vocational nurse to think critically? Access information, understand information, store comprehended information in long-term memory, recall information when needed, know what to do when information is not in long-term memory.
List the factors that influence critical thinking. Upbringing / culture, Motivation, Attitude influences thinking.
What are the four cognitive levels of knowledge? Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis.
Explain the difference between knowledge and comprehension. Knowledge is basically memorizing information, not really learning it. Comprehension is understanding, you understand something there fore you have a grasp of an idea.
