| fruitless (adj) | 1. useless; unproductive; without results or success. 2. bearing no fruit; barren. |
| hostile (adj) (n) | 1. of, relating to, or characteristic of an enemy. 2. a person or thing that is antagonistic or unfriendly. |
| inflammable (adj) | capable of being set on fire; combustible; flammable. |
| inflict (v) | to impose as something that must be suffered; deliver as a blow. |
