| Metaphor | a comparison without using like or as |
| Simile | a comparison using like or as |
| Stanza | a paragraph in a poem |
| End Rhyme | last word of each line ends with the same sound |
| Allusion | a brief reference to something or someone |
| Couplet | two lines that rhyme |
| Haiku | a single subject poem in 3 lines that do not rhyme |
| Dialogue | lines spoken by actors in a script |
| Drama | a story written to be performed by actors in a play |
| Act | a major section of a play, made up of several scenes |
| Scene | a subdivision of an act |
| Script | the written text of a play |
