Finding a Job

This stack of vocabulary cards focuses on terms about the job process.

Job Vacancy An open position in a business or company
Employer Person or company that has a job opening.
Interview A face to face meeting between a job applicant and an employee of the company who has the authority to hire.
Job Applicant Person who is applying for a job.
Job Application A form that employers require applicants to complete. May be in paper format or online.
Position A particular job, including all the tasks assigned to that job.
Want Ad A small advertisement in a newspaper or magazine placed by a business indicating a job opening.
References Information given to a potential employer by an individual who knows you and can vouch for your character and abilities.
Mock Job Interview A practice interview that allows you to practice your interviewing skills.
Vocational Rehabilitation An agency that helps eligible clients find, obtain, and maintain a job.
