Unit 1 and 2 Vocabulary Terms

Whole Numbers numbers that are not negative or positive
Fraction a part of a whole
Decimal a number less than 1
Integer positive and negative whole numbers and zero
PEMDAS the order of operations; Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction
Horizontal Number Lines number lines that go left to right
Vertical Number Lines number lines that go up and down
Exponent the number that tells you how many times a number is multiplied itself
Numerical Expression a mathematical phrase that contains numbers and operators (like add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
Multiple a number that can be divided by another number without a remainder
Improper Fraction a fraction where the numerator is bigger than the denominator
Numerator the top of a fraction
Denominator the bottom of a fraction
Mixed Number a whole number and a fraction
