Why did Adams lose support of many Federalists? They had wanted war with France, and felt Adams had let them down
Why did Thomas Jefferson and the Democratic Republicans oppose the Alien and Sedition Acts? Because many Republicans supporters would be kept from voting and because Republicans claimed that the acts threatened American liberties.
Why did Congress have to settle the election of 1800? Which founding father played a key role in Congress’ final decision? Congress broke an electoral tie between Jefferson and Burr. Jefferson received support from Hamilton.
