Angle Relationships
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| supplementary angles | 2 angles that add up to 180 degrees....The angles do not have to be adjacent. |
| consecutive interior angles (using parallel lines) | angles inside of parallel lines, one right after the other....are supplementary |
| interior | inside |
| alternate exterior angles (using parallel lines) | angles outside of the parallel lines, on opposite sides of the transversal...are congruent |
| congruent | same (equal) measurement |
| complementary angles | 2 angles that add up to 90 degrees....The angles do not have to be adjacent. |
| exterior | outside |
| linear pair | 2 adjacent angles that form a straight line |
| adjacent | next to, share a side |
| alternate interior angles (using parallel lines) | angles inside of the parallel lines, on opposite sides of the transversal.....are congruent |
| transversal | a line that crosses through two or more lines |
| linear pair | 2 adjacent angles that form a straight line |
| corresponding angles (using parallel lines) | angles in the same location in relation to the parallel lines and transversal....are congruent |
| consecutive exterior angles (using parallel lines) | angles outside of parallel lines, one right after the other....are supplementary |
| vertical angles | formed by two intersecting lines.....opposite one another....are congruent |
