Forces & Motion

TermDefinition
magnetism a force that acts at a distance and cannot be seen
speed measure of how fast an object is moving: distance/time
friction force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching
unbalanced forces force that may speed an object up, slow it down, or make it change directions
force a push or pull that affects the motion of objects
gravity a pull that attracts objects to each other. This attraction is not noticeable unless one of the objects is very large.
balanced forces forces that are equal in strength but opposite in direction and do not change the motion of objects
motion position, direction, and speed
