Waves Vocab Set 2

TermDefinition
Longitudinal Wave a wave that oscillates back and forth parallel to the direction it is traveling.
Transverse Wave a wave that is oscillates perpendicular to the direction it is traveling.
Wavelength distance from any point on one wave to a corresponding point on the next wave.
Amplitude the total distance a wave moves from its resting position.
Crest the highest point of the wave.
Trough the lowest point of the wave.
Frequency number of wave vibrations produced in one second.
Medium matter that a wave travels through.
Pitch how high or low a sound is; determined by the sound wave’s frequency.
