| Address Block | a predefined merge field that includes the recipients name and address |
| Bulk Mail | a large mailing, sorted by ZIp codes |
| Chevrons | Characters used to surround a merge field to distinguish shere data will be populated in the mail merge |
| Data source | Recipient information that is merged into the fileds of the source document |
| Field | A category or column of data in a data source |
| Form letter | a letter with standard wording that can be sent to many different people |
| mail merge | A WORD feature that joins a data source and a main document to create customized documents |
| mail merge wizard | 6 step process for creating a mail merged document |
| main document | in a mail merge, the document that contains the text or formatting that remains constant, sometimes known as the template |
| merge blocks | a group of fields, such as a last name or zip code. A column of data in a data source |
| merge field | the placeholder for variable data. Merge fields appear with chevrons <<>> around them. An example would be Dear <<Firstname>> |
