Math Vocabulary

addendsnumbers that are added
angle the figure formed by 2 rays that extend from a common endpoint
area model a figure used to represent data
area the number of square units needed to cover a surface. Length times width
array an arrangement of objects in equal rows and columns.
difference the answer to a subtraction problem
divisor the number by which a number is divided
divisible when one number can be divided by another number with no remainder
dividend the number to be divided in a division problem
divide/division to separate into equal groups
multiply/multiplication to join or combine equal groups; the operation that uses repeated addition to combine equal groups
numerator the top number in a fraction; how many equal parts there are
denominator the bottom number of a fraction; the total number of equal parts.
Fraction a number that names a part of a whole or part of a group.
Perimeter The distance around an object. Add all sides together
Join To put together
Seperate To take apart or subtract
Compare To find the difference between one person or object from another.
