How scientists measure distance
| Term | Definition |

| Motion | An object is in motion when its distance from another object is changing |
| Reference Point | A place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion |
| SI unit for distance | Meter |
| Speed | = Distance/Time |
| Average Speed | +Total Distance Traveled/Total time |
| Instantaneous Speed | The rate at which an object is moving at that point in time |
| Velocity | Speed of an object in a given direction |
| Line Graph | Used to show motion of an object |
| Slope | The steepness of a line |
