| Covalent Bond | A Chemical bond formed when two atoms share electrons |
| Valence Electrons | The electrons that are farthest away from the nucleus of an atom and are involved in chemical reactions |
| Isotope | An Atom with the same number of protons and a different number of neutrons |
| Proton | Small positively charged particles that are found in the nucleus of an atom |
| Mass Number | The sum of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom |
| Nucleus | The central core of atom containing protons and usually neutrons |
| Atomic Mass | The average mass of one atom of an element |
| Atomic Number | The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom |
| Electron | The tiny negatively charged high energy particles that move around outside of the nucleus of an atom |
| Ion | An atom or group of atoms that have been electrically charged |
| Ionic Bond | The attraction between oppositely charged ions |
| Neutron | Small uncharged particles that are found in the nucleus of an atom |
| Mixture | Two or more substances that are mixed together but are not chemically combined |
| Compound | A substance made from two or more elements chemically combined in a specific ratio or proportion |
| Element | Natural and has nothing combined with it |
