| Xylem | plant tissue that carries water and nutrient from plants roots to its leaves |
| Phloem | plant tissue that carries sugar made in the leaves to other cells in all parts of a plant |
| Adapted | changed overtime in ways that are suited to where it lives |
| Chlorophyll | a green pigment found within cells of the leaves that captures the sun's energy |
| Stomata | the pores through which gases like carbon dioxide and oxygen can enter and leave a plant |
| Transportation | a process during which water is released through stomata |
| Respiration | a process in which oxygen combines with the sugar to produce energy, carbon dioxide, and water |
