numerator the number of counted parts in a fraction (dividend)
denominator the number by of total parts in a fraction (divisor)
mixed number a combination of a whole number and a fraction, has a value greater than 1
improper fraction a fraction with a value greater than 1, numerator is greater than the denominator
simplify to reduce to a simpler form by dividing by the greatest common factor
equivalent has the same value
whole describing a number that is not a fraction
fraction a part of something larger
quarter one of four equal parts making a whole
divisor the number by of total parts in a fraction (denominator)
dividend the number of counted parts in a fraction (numerator)
part an area or piece of something
remainder the amount left after dividing into equal groups
estimation an approximate calculation
half one of two equal parts that make a whole
divisible is able to be divided into equal groups with nothing left over
greatest common factor the highest number that divides into two or more numbers
least common multiple the smallest product shared by two or more numbers
quotient the whole number of equal groups when dividing
unit fraction a fraction with a numerator of 1
