Cell Organelles

Parts of the cell and what they do.

QuestionAnswer
Cell Wall Surrounds and supports plant cells.
Cell Membrane Surrounds all cells.
Golgi Body Processes and packages molecules created by cell.
Ribosome Produces proteins. Can float in the cytoplasm or be stuck to rough ER.
Lysosome Found in animal cells. Breaks down old cell parts.
Endoplasmic Reticulum(Smooth)(Rough) Transports materials throughout the cell.
Mitochondria Breaks down sugar to usable energy.
Vacuole Stores water, food, and waste.
Chloroplasts Found in plant cells only. takes energy from the sun and makes food for the plant.
Cytoplasm Thick, jelly-like material. Supports all organelles.
Nucleus Controls cell. Holds all DNA.
