Symbiosis
| Term | Definition |

| symbiosis | interaction between 2 different organisms living together |
| Commensalism | a relationship between two organisms where one benefits and the other is neither harmed nor helped. (usually transportation , housing or protection) (owl/tree) |
| Mutualism | Both organisms benefit and neither is harmed. (Flower/butterfly) One gets pollinated and the other gets nectar |
| Parasitism | Host is harmed. Parasite benefits (Dog/tick) |
| Competition | Occurs when 2 or more organisms fight or struggle over resources (usually for food, shelter, mates, living space, water) (2 apes or leopards/lions) |
| Predation | One organism captures, kills and consumes another of a different species (bear/fish) |
| predator | the organism that kills and eats another organism |
| prey | the organism that is being pursued and then eaten by a predator |
| intraspecific competition | Fighting or struggling within the same species |
| interspecific competition | Fighting or struggling between different species |
| camouflage | an adaptation that allows animals to blend in with their environment to protect them from predators. |
