| Term | Definition |

| integers | integers are the set of whole number and their opposites. |
| opposite integers | two integers that are the same distance away from zero. |
| positive integers | positive integers are the integers to the right of zero on a number line. |
| negative integers | negative integers are to the left of the zero on a number line. |
| rational number | any number that can be written as a a/b and b is not zero. Fractions, terminating and repeating decimals, and integers are all rational numbers. |
| absolute value | the distance a number is away from zero on a number line. |
| coordinate plane | the flat surface created by the x and y-axis lines. |
| x-axis | the horizontal line on the coordinate plane. |
| y-axis | the vertical line on the coordinate plane. |
| origin | the point where the x-axis and y-axis lines intersect. |
| ordered pair | a pair of coordinates that represent a point on the coordinate plane. |
| coordinates | numbers use to plot points on the coordinate plane. |
| the 4 quadrants | the four regions on the coordinate plane. |
| line of symmetry | a line that divides a figure into two halves that are a reflection of each other. |
| reflection | a point in the same position, but in a different quadrant |
