| White blood cell | a blood cell that fights disease |
| Antibody | protein that defends the body against diseases |
| pathogens | organisms that cause disease |
| vaccination | an injection that produces a mild form of a disease in order to help build up an immunity to it |
| virus | an extremely small organism which causes disease in humans, animals and plants |
| fungus | a simple parasitic organism |
| bacteria | one-celled micro-organisms, some can be helpful and some cause disease |
| lymph node | small mass of tissue that contains lymphocytes and filters pathogens from the lymph |
| temperature | the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or environment |
| Immunity | the body's ability for identifying, destroying, and disposing of disease-causing agents |
| lymphatic vessels | vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymp |
| parasite | an organism that lives in or on another organism; one who lives off another person |
| organism | a living thing |
| injection | the act of putting a liquid into the body by means of a syringe |
