Telling Time Vocabulary

Quarter Hour 15 minutes
Clock Hands The two pointers on the clock that determine minutes and hours
Clockwise Direction that the hands of a clock move in
Counterclockwise Opposite of the direction that the hands of a clock move in
A.M. Describes times of the dorm midnight to noon
P.M. Describes times of the day from noon to midnight
Noon 12:00 in the day
Midnight 12:00 at night
Elapsed Time The amount of time that passes from the start to the end of an activity
Schedule A table of activities and the times they happen
Time Line A drawing that shows when and in what order events took place
