Sewing machine parts and functions

| Seam Guide | Used as a guide to keep seam allowances straight and even. |
| Feed Dog | Moves the fabric through the machine during stitching. |
| Presser Foot | Holds the fabric down against the feed dog while stitching. |
| Needle | Thread is placed in the eye, so a stitch can be made. |
| Thread Guide | Guides the thread correctly through the machine. |
| Presser Foot Lifter/Lever | Lifts and lowers the presser foot. |
| Take Up Lever | Takes up the slack in the thread between machine stitches. |
| Tension Control | Controls the tightness or looseness of the thread. |
| Stitch Selector | It determines the type of machine stitch. |
| Spool Pin | Holds the spool of thread. |
| Bobbin Winder | Winds the thread onto the bobbin. |
| Handwheel | Controls the up and down movement of the machine needle. |
| Handwheel Release | Prevents the needle from moving while winding the bobbin. |
| Stitch Length Control | Controls the length of the stitch. |
| Foot control | Controls the speed of the sewing machine. |
| Reverse Stitch Control | Allows for backstitching. |
