Debate/Argument Unit Vocabulary

| Debate | to argue both sides of a topic |
| Fact | something proven to be true |
| Opinion | a feeling or belief |
| Quote | to write exactly what someone said |
| Resolve | to make a firm decision to do something |
| Proposition | a subject to be debated |
| Evidence | facts and examples that prove something |
| Persuade | to try to convince someone |
| Contention | a strong statement to support one side of an argument |
| Affirmitive side | side that supports the propostion |
| Negative side | side that opposes the proposition |
| Oppose | to be against something |
| Rebuttal | a respnse to a counter argument |
| Concede | to admit that someone else is right |
| Counterargument | an opposing argument or response |
