What makes a bird of Prey? Eat meat (carnivores)
The main characteristics of birds of prey? sharp talons. curved beak, excellent eyesight and hearing
How are owls silent flyers? fringed feathers
What is the difference between nocturnal and diurnal? Dirunal is active during the day, nocturnal is active at night
Which is the fastest bird? Perregrine Falcon
What are adaptations? Traits to help the species survive
What are main birds of prey? Falcons, owls, hawks, eagles, vultures
What is endangered? close to being extinct
What is extinct? no longer existing
Birds of prey live everywhere except . . . Deep arctic
Why are there owl pellets? All the undigested parts are regurgitated because owls eat their prey whole (fur, bones, sticks, hay etc)
How are owl's eyes specialized? binocular vision, large, can rotate head 270 degrees
How are owl's ears specialized? asymetrical, used for locating prey through sound
What do vultures eat? carrion (dead animals) because they are scavengers
What does the facial disc do? Help bring in both light to eyes and sound to ears
What are traits of all birds? vertebrate, lungs, lay eggs, feathers
