Fractions

Where do you find fractions in everyday life? Give an example Everywhere, e.g. cutting a cake into slices
What is the number on the top of a fraction called? Numerator
What is the number on the bottom of a fraction called? Denominator
Can you add fractions with the same number on the bottom? Yes
Can you add fractions with different numbers on the bottom? Yes
What is the answer to 1/4 + 1/4? 1/2
Solve 1/2 +1/4 3/4
if you were to solve 1/2-1/4 what would you do to start this question? Find a common denominator again and work from there using subtraction rules
What do you do to the numbers on the top AND bottom of fractions when you are multiplying them? Multiply the numbers on the top by each other and mulltipy the numbers on the bottom by each other
Do you have any idea of how to divide fractions? If so, jot it down. (Hint: division is the opposite of multiplication) Flip the second fraction (which changes it to multiplication), and simply just multiply the first fraction by the second (flipped) fraction
Solve 1/6 + 2/6? 3/6 = 1/2
What is 4/8 - 2/8? 2/8 = 1/4
Solve 1/12 - 1/12 0
What is the answer to 1/50 - 2/50? -1/50
