| metaphor | the comparison of two things without using the word "like" or "as" |
| irony | meaning opposite of what one says |
| conflict | opposing elements or characters in a plot |
| narrator | the person telling the story |
| autobiography | the story of a person's life that is written by that person |
| simile | the comparison of two things using the word "like" or "as" |
| symbol | a word or object that stands for something else |
