Tech Math II CH. 7

Tech Math II MPHS Chapter 7

QuestionAnswer
direct variation A linear function defined by an equation of the form y = kx, k does not equal 0. You say that y is directly proportional to x.
rise the vertical change between two points on a line.
diameter a segment that joins two points of the circumference with the center of the circle.
arc Part of a circle. Any angle
dimensional analysis A problem solving strategy where you cancel units of measurement as if they are numbers.
variation constant The linear function defined by an equation of the form y = kx, k does not equal 0. You say that y is directly proportions to x.
run The horizontal change between two points on a line.
circumference The perimeter of a circle. The distance around the circle.
arc length The measurement of an arc.
sector The region formed by a centrai angle and its arc is a sector.
variation The nonzero constant k in a direct variation defined by y = kx.
slope The measure of the steepness of a line given by the ratio of rise to run for any two points on the line.
pi The ratio of circumference to diameter is a constant.
general form for direct variation ratio of quantites = variation constant
tangent ratio The ratio compares the two legs of a right triangle. leg opposite / leg adjacent.
conversion factor A conversion factor is a ratio of two equal(or approximately equal) quantites that are measured in different units.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
