Addition and Subtraction

TermDefinition
Associative Property of Addition The property which states that the grouping of addends does not change the sum
Commutative Property The property which stats that the order in which two numbers are added does not change the sum.
equation A sentence that contains an equals sign (=), showing that two expressions.
Identity Property of Addition For any number, zero plus that number is the number.
minuend The number from which another number is subtracted.
subtrahend A number subtracted from another number.
unknown An amount that has not been identified.
variable A letter or symbol used to represent unknown quantity.
