TermDefinition
Solve Find all solutions to an equation, inequality, or a system of equations and/or inequalities
Simplify To use the rules of arithmetic and algebra to rewrite an expression as simply as possible
Evaluate To find the values of an expression by replacing each variable in an expression with numbers
Constant As a noun, a term or expression with no variables. As an adjective, constant means the same as fixed. That is, not changing or moving
Negative A real number greater then zero. Zero itself is neither negative nor positive
Positive A real number greater than zero. Zero itself is not positive
Expresion A mathematical phrase involving at least one variable and sometimes numbers and operation symbols
Equation A mathematical sentence that uses an equals sigh to show that two quantities are equal
Commutative Properties Addition/Multiplication This property of both multiplication and addition states that you can rearrange the order of the numbers being added or reorder numbers being multiplied without changing the value of the expression
Associative Properties Addition/Multiplication The property applies both multiplication and addition and states that you can group several numbers that are being added or multiplied in any way and yield the same value
Distributive Property Is a property that states a sum by a number giveing the same result as multiplying
Inverse of Subtraction The sum of a number and its additive inverse is zero
Additive Inverse Its the sum of any number of additive zero
Variable A quantity that you can change or that make on different values
