Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Algebraic Expression mathematical phrase that has at least one variable and one operation.
quotient the answer to a division problem
product the answer to a multiplication problem
sum the answer to an addition problem
difference the answer to a subtraction problem
variable A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.
standard algorithm step-by-step solution following a specific set of traditional rules
divisor the number you divide by
dividend the amount you want to divide up
constant a fixed value
represent to model or show something in a different way
relationship the way in which two or more concepts are connected
