Chemistry Vocabulary

7th grade chemistry vocabulary

TermDefinition
Element Makes up matter and cannot be simplified into another substance.
Compound A substance that is made up of two or more elements.
Molecules A group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.
Atom The basic unit of a chemical element.
Metal A solid material that is typically hard.
Non-metal An element of substance that is not metal.
Malleable Able to be hammered or pressed permanently out of shape.
