States of Matter

| evaporation | the change of a substance from a liquid to a gas |
| boiling | the conversion of a liquid to a vapor |
| freezing | the change of state from a liquid to a solid |
| condensation | the change of state from a gas to a liquid |
| sublimation | the process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
| solid | the state of matter in which the volume and the shappe of a substance are fixed |
| liquid | the state of matter that has a definite volume but not a definite shape |
| gas | a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape |
| plasma | a form of matter that consists of a super heated gas (99% of the univers) |
| pressure | the amount of force exerted on the surface of an object |
| viscosity | the resistance of a gas or liquid to flow |
| physical property | can be observed or measured WITHOUT changing the substance |
| chemical property | describes matter based on its ability to change into NEW matter with DIFFERENT properties |
| signs of a chemical reaction | color change, heat, light, energy, gas, odor, can not reverse changes |
