Equations

TermDefinition
Equation a mathematical sentence stating that two expressions are equivalent
Let Statement defines the variable in an expression or equation; for example, let w = number of weeks
Inverse Operations pairs of operations that undo each other. Examples: Addition and subtraction are inverse operations. Multiplication and division are inverse operations.
Expression a mathematical combination of numbers, variables, and operations; does not contain an equal sign!
Standard Form of an Expression an expression in simplest terms; all like terms are combined
Solution a value for the variable that makes an equation true; the answer to an equation
