Legos

Week 1

TermDefinition
Simple Machine A non-motorized machine that changes direction of a force, thereby providing mechanical advantage.
Lever The part of a system consisting of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a fixed hinge, or fulcrum.
Wheel and Axle It has 2 parts to it. The axle is a rod that goes through the wheel. This lets the wheel turn.
Pulley A wheel on an axle or shaft that is designed to support movement and change of direction.
Inclined Plane A flat supporting surface tilted at an angle, with one end higher than the other.
Wedge A triangular shaped tool that can be used to separate two objects.
Screw Mechanism that convers rotational motion to linear motion.
