| connotation/denotation | Connotation- The feeling that the word suggest Denotation- The dictionary definition of a word. |

| coordinate adjective | Are adjectives that appear in sequence with one another to modify the same noun. |
| elaborate | Very detailed |
| elicit | To evoke or draw out. |
| evidence | The facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid |

| inference | An educated guess |
| main idea | Important information that tells more about the overall idea of a paragraph or section |

| summary | A brief statement of the main points of a story. |
| supporting detail | Gives us the full detail. |
| technical meaning | The literal meaning. |
| theme | The lesson the story tells us. |
| tone | The attitude of a place, piece of writing, or situation. |
