TERMDEFINITION
Poetry Paint pictures with word. Written in lines and stanzas
Meter Patterns of stressed and unstressed syllables in poetry. The rhythm or repeating patterns
Rhythm The pattern or heats in the lines of a poem
Free Verse Poem that do not rhyme and do not have a regular poem rhythm
Personfication Giving human characteristics or traits to a non-living thing
Allterartion Repetition of the same or very similar consonant sounds in words that are close together in a poem
Hyberbole An extreme exaggeration
Onomatopia The use of words that imitate the sound it describes
Prose Ordinary writing
Simile Use like or as to compare
Metaphor Comparison w/o like or as
Rhyme Words that have the same sound
Allusion Referring to something else
End Rhyme Words that end of the sentence rhyme
