Terms for the students to know before weekly quiz

Caption Words beneath the photo that explains the subject
Emphasis Drawing attention to something by using placement, size, etc.
Footnote A note at the bottom of the page to explain a reference in the text
Headline Words at the top of an article that indicate the topic
Hyperbole An over-exaggeration
Oxymoron A figure of speech that uses two normally contradictory terms
Plagarism Presenting other people's ideas or words as if they were your own
Proofread Look for errors in grammar, spelling, and usage to correct
Revise Revisit your work, add new ideas, consult with others, rework areas of your paper
