Parabola The U-shaped graph of a quadratic funtion
Vertex The lowest or highest point on a parabola
Axis of Symmetry The Vertical Line that divides a parabola into two symmetric parts
Focus A fixed point on the interior of a parabola that lies on the axis of symmetry; A parabola "wraps around the focus
Zero An x-value for which f(x) = 0; A zero is located at the x-intercept of the graph of the funtions
Maximum Value The y-coordinate of the vertex of the graph of y= ax^2 + bx + c when a<0
Minimum Value The y-coordinate of the vertex of the graph of y = ax^2 + bx + c when a>0
Vertex Form A quadratic function of the form y = a(x-h)^2 + k, where a =/ 0; The vertex of the parabola is (h,k)
