Oxidation and Reduction

| Oxidation | When something combines with Oxygen resulting in the loss of electrons |
| Reduction | Gain of electrons |
| Oxidising agent | oxidises something and is itself reduced. It is an electron acceptor |
| Reducing agent | reduces something else and is itself oxidised. It is an electron donor. |
