Explain skin analysis techniques. Why is skin analysis important? It tells what type of skin the client has. It helps you find out what the skin needs.
What is contraindication? Contraindication is avoiding certain treatments. allergies, prescription drugs, certain exfoliants & thinning skin.
Why is it important to have every client complete a health screening form? To see if the client has any contraindicates that might rule out treatments.
Describe the differences between alipidic and oily skin. Alipidic means the skin is dry, oily means the skin is oily.
What is the difference between skin type and skin condition? Skin type describes the skin. Skin conditions are conditions of skin that occur due to skin type.
Name and explain the different categories of skin care products. Cleansing milks cleanse dry and sensitive skin types. Foaming cleansers clean the skin. Toners rebalance the pH and remove remnants of cleanser from skin. Exfoliants remove dead cells from skin surface.
What are the steps to completing a client consultation? Analyze skin, recommend services and products.
Why is massage used during a facial? Promote absorption, and to relieve pain.
Name and briefly describe the five categories of massage manipulations Effleurage is a light continuous movement. Petrissage is a kneading movement performed by lifting, squeezing and pressing the tissue firm pressure. Friction is a deep rubbing movement, Tapotement is short quick tapping movement. Vibration is rapid shaking
Name and describe two types of electrical machines used in facial treatments and why these machines add value to a facial. Galvanic machines and brushing machines. Brushing machines exfoliate skin. Galvanic machines soften and emulsify hardened sebum
Who is not a good candidate for electrical current treatment? Why? Pregnant people, people with epilepsy, insufficient nerve sensibility, open or broken skin, or with metal implants or pace makers.
How can aromatherapy be used in the basic facial? it is supposed to benefit a persons physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
