cacophony (n) an unpleasant combination of loud, often jarring sounds
gramophone (n) a machine (invented by Alexander Graham Bell) reproducing the sounds recorded on records
homophone (n) words that sound alike but have different spellings and meanings
megaphone (n) a cone-shaped acoustic device held to the mouth to intensify and direct the sound
microphone (n) an amplified, transmitted, or broadcast sound
phoneme (n) one speech sound (for example the "t" in bat)
phonics (n) the relationship between letters and sounds they make
phonograph (n) a machine for reproducing the sounds recorded on record players
symphonic (adj.) relating to or characteristic of the sounds of a symphony
telephone (n) an electronic apparatus used to transmit sounds over a distance without distortion
