Tests for Negative Ions
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Carbonate | Produces CO2 when reacting with any dilute acid |
| Sulfite | Gives off Sulphur Dioxide gas when reacting with dilute Hydrochloric Acid |
| Sulfate | Any soluble Sulfate will give a white precipitate of Barium Sulfate when reacting with Barium Chloride |
| Bromide | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Bromide will give a cream (off-white) precipitate of Silver Bromide |
| Chloride | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Chloride will give a white precipitate of Silver Chloride |
| Iodide | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Iodide will give a yellow precipitate of Silver Iodide |
| Nitrate | Reacts with Sodium Hydroxide and Aluminium Powder to form Ammonium gas |
