Tests for Negative Ions
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Carbonate | Produces CO2 when reacting with any dilute acid |
Sulfite | Gives off Sulphur Dioxide gas when reacting with dilute Hydrochloric Acid |
Sulfate | Any soluble Sulfate will give a white precipitate of Barium Sulfate when reacting with Barium Chloride |
Bromide | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Bromide will give a cream (off-white) precipitate of Silver Bromide |
Chloride | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Chloride will give a white precipitate of Silver Chloride |
Iodide | When reacted with Silver Nitrate, any Iodide will give a yellow precipitate of Silver Iodide |
Nitrate | Reacts with Sodium Hydroxide and Aluminium Powder to form Ammonium gas |
