literary devices
| Term | Definition |

| Simile | A comparison between two different things or ideas using "like or "as" |
| Metaphor | A comparison between two different things or ideas without using "like or "as" |
| Alliteration | a phrase or a sentence that has repetitive sound patterns (ie. tongue twisters) |
| Personification | Giving the characteristics or qualities of a human to inanimate objects or animals |
| Hyperbole | A large or gross exaggeration |
| Onomatopoeia | A word that makes its sounds |
| Bandwagon | Persuading people to do something by leting them know others are doing it. |
| Emotional Words | Words that will make you feel strongly about someone or somethig. |
| Repetition | The product name is repeated at least 4 times. |
| Testimonial | Using the words of a famouse person or "common man" to persuade you. |
| Transfer | Using the names or pictures of famouse peopple but no words or direct quotes ar spoken. |
| Statment | An opening sentance that introduces the topic of the paragraph |
| Examples | An example that highlights the topic sentence and sheds light on the subject. |
| Elaboration | Sentences that describe the detail in the example. |
| Link | A sentence that links the reader's thaoughts back to the original topic, and it restates the main idea of the paragraph. |
