What is the function of a mashrabiya? To separate male and females during service.
What is the function of a Mihrab? It is a recess in the wall of the qibla used as a identifying point for people to know where to face the qibla as well as it is used as an amplifier for the person who stands in it and conducts prayer (The Imam)
Minbar function? A chair where the Friday service is performed from.
What is a Dika? its a wooden platform used for the imam where people repeat after him during services
What are the two subsidiary functions of a mosque? 1. Places of learning and education 2. Socio cultural meeting place
What are the two main architectural differences between churches and mosques? 1. Mosques are wide instead of narrow for prayer function 2. Churches tend to be more vertical rather than horizontal
