| fortunate | adj. Lucky. |
| fringe | n. An edge made of short lengths of material such as thread, used to decorate clothes, curtains, etc. An outside edge. |
| humble | adj. Plain and simple. Not proud; modest. |
| meadow | n. A field of grass or wildflowers. |
| melancholy | adj. Filled with sorrow; very sad. n. A state of sadness. |
| obstinate | adj. Not willing to give in; stubborn. |
| plead | v. To ask for something that is felt to be very important; to beg. To respond to a change by a court of law. |
