Explain why frameshift mutations have a greater effect than point mutations. because point mutation only change a single codon(1 amino acid change), where frameshift mutations can affect the ENTIRE sequence after the mutation(many amino acid changes)
If GUA is changed to GUU, will the resulting protein be affected? It would not be affected because they code for the same amino acid. (SILENT point mutation)
Explain how mutagen can cause genetic mutations in spite of your body's DNA repair enzymes? Sometime mutagens cause so much damage, that the repair enzymes cannot keep up. (ex: UV sunlight radiation)
How could a mutated gene produce a shorter protein than that produce by the normal gene? frameshift or point mutation may have changed one of the codons to a stop.
How does a frameshift mutation affect reading frame? because framshift mutation involves the insertion or deletion of a letter in the sentence.
