QuestionAnswer
ballad A narrative poem or song that tells a popular story, often of physical courage or love.
direct characterization When the author tells the reader directly about the character.
engage Make the reader of your writing excited to read more, interested in what you have written.
fact A statement that is true.
hypothesize To make a guess you can test.
main conflict The central conflict that moves the plot forward.
situational irony When there is a difference between what is expected to happen and what actually does happen.
topic sentence A sentence stating the main idea of a paragraph.
web page A page of information at a website; may include text, graphics, and links to other web pages.
writing To commit thoughts to written or printed text.
